First Congregational Church is a small and growing congregation. We are a diverse people representing different theological and political voices. As one, we agree on the value and humanity of each other. We listen. We learn together. We envision the future of the Church together. We are committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment for all. We hope that guests will let us know if we are accomplishing that goal. We believe that every community needs a place that is safe for all, a place to live our their faith and learn. We hope you find your way to us while on your journey. We are members of the Open and Affirming Coalitionof the United Church of Christ.
About Our Church Building
The Congregational Church in Claremont, NH was organized in 1771, it was incorporated in 1815, and incorporated again in 1917 with its present name, The Congregational Church in Claremont, N.H. Inc. Later the church body voted to become a United Church of Christ (UCC) congregation.
The church building is a beautiful Gothic Revival brick structure with an impressive steeple. In the winter of 2001 the sanctuary was renovated, restoring it to the period of the late 1890s. The building is handicapped accessible with a ramp at the end of the walkway to the left of the Pleasant Street entrance and an elevator inside to access all floors.
